Actress

Genesis got her first agent at 10 -years-old through an open call held at a local church on the South side of Chicago. She began  being sent out  for various shows and commercials and finally landed her first reoccurring role as "Miasha" on The Chi at 12-years-old.

Vocalist

She has been gracing stages throughout most of her life. She traveled all over the nation with her mother who was casted in the role of "Shenzi"  in the iconic Broadway Las Vegas company and National Tour of "Disney's The Lion King."  Together, they traveled to over 40 cities for over 4 years while Genesis was home schooled on the road. Little did her mother know, Genesis was taking (and giving) notes all along the way.

Emcee

Once Genesis left the road to attend school, she lived with her grandparents and father. It was during this time that Genesis learned how to not only endure the struggles of being bullied by peers, but also how to translate those experiences through the arts. She went on to be a member of "Little Lyric" (the youth arm of the legendary "Lyric Lagoon" aka "Lyric Squad") where she was introduced to the techniques of stage presence, articulation, cadence and confidence.

Poet

After leaving the toxic environment of school bullies, she was welcomed by her neighborhood school with open arms. Her academic abilities soon took focus and she went on to graduate 6th in her class. Genesis went on to join several clubs and groups including the world renown Chicago Children's Choir- Englewood branch and LTAB (Louder Than A Bomb) poetry club. Through her involvement and exposure to hip-hop and theatre, she began to craft and perform her own poems and pieces with ease, which helped lead her high school LTAB team to place 2nd in the the LTAB 2020 semi-finals.

Student

While she might make it look easy,  balancing high school with after school clubs in between studying scripts all while navigating her life as a teen sister to her two brothers and two sisters and a dog, managing this fast paced life is not an easy task. However, Genesis remains a dedicated student who knows what she wants out of life...so far. With future plans of leaving Chicago for college abroad and/or pursuing a future in the entertainment industry, the journey ahead for Genesis shines brightly.

Star

All in all, Genesis stays true to her family, her friends, her city and most of all- herself. This is how she shines.
